Coon Rapids Police are passionate about public education and crime prevention. Want to learn about important public safety topics? Schedule a PEP Talk today! Learn about a topic of your choice during a visit from a member of the police department. Request a visit to your residence, business or community organization. Most PEP Talks are about an hour long and will be tailored to your group.
Available PEP Talk Sessions
Heart Safe CPR InstructionThis PEP Talk will introduce you to lifesaving CPR and defibrillator training to use in emergency situations. You will learn how to operate an AED and important steps to take while waiting for emergency responders to arrive. | |
ScamsThis class will teach people of all ages about common scams that are reported in our city. We teach about the scams, and steps you can take to protect yourself and others. | |
Workplace Violence TrainingThis training session will teach participants the concept of run, hide, fight during an active shooter incident or other violent situation. | |
Premise SurveyOur police officers will inspect your home and learn about your household routines. We can identify what might make your home an easy target and offer suggestions to make the property more secure against burglars and vandals. | |
Responsible Beverage Service TrainingThis class is designed for liquor license holders. Police will provide important instruction on proper ID checking and strategies to prevent overserving patrons | |
Officer VisitRequest an officer to come to your location. Officers can speak generally about many public safety topics or simply come to just say hi! Safety topics can include: Auto Theft Prevention, Anti-Bullying, Community Watch Team, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Personal Safety/Self-Defense, Bicycle Safety, Retail/Commercial Security, Interacting with the Police, Child Safety. |

Fill out the PEP Talk online interest form and the police department will contact you to schedule a visit. Contact Community Outreach Officer Tim Morin at 763-767-6472 with questions.
The Coon Rapids Police Department values the opportunity to speak with community groups about safety, crime prevention and other topics relevant to modern policing. We will make every attempt to accommodate your request. Due to the number of requests and limited resources, please note that we may have to schedule alternate dates, or in some rare cases, we may not be able to honor your request. To request an appearance or speaker for your event, please complete the online request form no less than two weeks prior to the event date.
