The Coon Rapids Fire Department responds to over 4500 medicals calls every year. Our firefighter/ EMTs arrive to calls with an average 4 to 5 minute response time after being dispatched by Anoka County Central Communications.
Firefighters carry life-saving equipment so they can perform many procedures such as providing an airway, starting an IV, bleeding control, extrication, delivering a baby or simply bringing comfort to someone in need. Every month our staff participates in medical training, educational drills and hands-on practice.
Our Emergency Medical Services team partners with the medical director of Allina Health and Mercy Hospital to provide quality medical care to residents and visitors of Coon Rapids. In most cases, patients are taken to Mercy Hospital, located within Coon Rapids, which is one of the top 50 cardiac hospitals in the United States.
Coon Rapids is also a Heart Safe Community.
