The Coon Rapids Police Department now has an additional full-time police officer on staff to assist with DUI enforcement, thanks to a federal grant. The four-year grant will pay for the officer's salary and a new squad car, designated exclusively for DUI patrol. The new officer will work peak times including evenings, holidays and weekends, when people are often driving under the influence and arrests are most common.
Police Chief Brad Wise says, This will be a great new tool for the citizens of Coon Rapids to keep our roads safe. Having an officer dedicated to this type of enforcement will help save lives.
