Coon Rapids Residents Gather for 'Night to Unite'

Not even a little rain could stop the night, which has become an annual tradition in Coon Rapids. There were 93 neighborhoods that held parties, across the city, on the first Tuesday in August for Night to Unite.

"It's a great opportunity for us to get to know the community, and for them to know us, and be a face they can recognize out in the community," said Community Outreach Officer Tim Morin of the Coon Rapids Police Department.

Both members of the Coon Rapids police and fire departments made stops at nearly every neighborhood party across the city.

In only his second year with the police department, patrol officer, Justin Denwiddie and fellow patrol officer, Tyler Sinclair, got to hand out candy and lots of swag, while visiting with members of the community.

"I love the support from the community, and actually coming out and having that connection with the community, eating great food, giving out stickers and seeing smiles," Denwiddie said.

Night to Unite is a great opportunity for neighbors to meet neighbors, and connect with police in order to help with crime prevention efforts.
